Your default life. 

Are you living your default life or your intentional life?

We are daily faced with thousands of choices and often these choices are made as if we’re traveling on auto-pilot, influenced by society, culture, our upbringing, our beliefs. We live with no intention, reacting to situations around us, and simply trying to make it through the day. Day after day. 

Sometimes we feel and know that something is not right, but we can’t quite pinpoint what that is. Other times we know what we would like to be different, but don’t know where to start. Our minds telling us that it’s time to step out of the default road and travel a new way. A way of purpose. An intentional life.

The life you desire. 

Think for a moment on the life you are living. Where will you be in 1, 5, or 20 years if you continue on this default path and make no changes? What would you like to be different? It could be a different job where you can better use your talents and skills. It could be to lose weight, to manage a chronic condition with a healthy lifestyle, or to exercise more. It could be to improve relationships, to stop smoking, to spend more time with your loved ones, or to finally open that business you’ve been dreaming about. It could be to reignite your relationship with God. 

A life of purpose involves intent, resolution, and planning. It doesn’t happen by chance, but using your power of choice, you can create a better life for you. This is where lifestyle design comes in.

According to Prakhar Verma, “Lifestyle design is the process of designing your life aligned with your nature, strengths, values, dreams, passion, and purpose. It’s the freedom to design your life the way YOU want.” (1)

Through lifestyle design you get to use your most precious resources of time, money, and power of choice to create a life of purpose. A life you can feel content about. 

The question that remains is how can you achieve this life you so desire? Take time to reflect on where you are and were you would like to be. For consistent and lasting results, it is important to know not only what you want, but also why you want it. Then create strategies, a plan, to get you from where you are to where you want to be.
